Healthy, sound, excellent bloodlines, well trained AQHA Trail Horse. Duchess is a 17 year old registered, experienced, well trained Quarter Horse mare. She has been in the mountains, on trails, ridden extensively, well trained and well cared for. She is up to date on worming, vaccinations, is an easy keeper. She is a beautiful chestnut, darker than sorrel and sheds out beautifully. She ties and loads easily, has a soft eye and is very easy to be around. About a year ago, she was injured in wire when neighboring horses chased her but she healed up quite well and our equine vet verified this. She is completely sound although her front left leg cannot bend at the hock and so she cannot be shod. She can be trimmed however and can be ridden barefoot or can wear boots and it does not affect her soundness. Her owner has ridden her hard and up and down mountains throughout the summer and fall with no difficulty but has a younger horse now who he is working with and would like this lovely mare to have a slightly easier riding life. She is ridden in a mechanical or natural hackamore; goes out alone or with others, is easy to get along with, has a gentle temperament and is very, very sweet. Her bloodlines are excellent.
